This unusual antique fob is primarily made of agate. It is embellished by a rose gold frame that tests more than 10 KT gold and slightly less than 14 KT gold. Consequently we feel that this piece is 12 KT gold. It measures an inch and half tall with a rectangular base of 1.25 inch by slightly under 1.25 inches. The carved agate insignia features an inscription in French "Tache Surpasser en Vertu" which roughly translated means duty or task overcomes virtue. Beneath the insignia appears to be a roaring female lion with her paw on a crest. Under that in an oval ribbed disk is a highly stylized capital F. This fob is rare and in excellent condition.
